I was active in the LGBTQ+ community in Nashville, TN for many years, specifically working with agencies providing services to the homeless to improve accommodation of our community. One of the reasons my husband, Randy, and I chose to retire in Silver City was the diversity of this town. I am proud to be a member of PFLAG and support education about and advocacy for LGBTQ+ issues.

Although I had always been supportive of the LGBTQ+ community, when my son transitioned I felt a need to get more deeply involved. I want to help our communities be safer and more supportive for LGBTQ+ people.

When I came out at the age of fifty, PFLAG was a place for me to find support and meet new friends. I moved to Silver City from Dayton, Ohio, I was delighted to see there was already a PFLAG chapter here too.

I became aware of PFLAG when I taught my first out high school student; PFLAG showed me how to be supportive and advocate for the rights of LGBTQ students. I love putting my energy into PFLAG Silver City so it can continue to open hearts and minds.
